This half of the semester I will be talking about Twitter. There are many ways to use Twitter. People use Twitter for promotion, professional development, networking and other reasons. I personally use Twitter to keep in contact with friends back home and figure out what's going on in the world. There are lots of stories on any subject you can imagine. You'll be surprised about the things you are exposed to on Twitter. Below is a video on how to use Twitter.
I think Twitter is a great tool to get your message across quickly and efficiently. Following the people you want, using hashtags to get to the messages of your personal interest, sharing cool stuff with others. In my part of the world, though, Twitter is not as popular, though in this country it looks like a highly usable tool. Will be happy to learn more about it.
ReplyDeleteSo far, I've resisted Twitter because I feel like it doesn't offer anything that, say, Facebook doesn't already do: On Facebook, I can post (longer) messages and pictures; I can follow friends and news sources and celebrities—and, Facebook appears to have more privacy settings. So I'll be interested to see what you have to say about Twitter since it's something I'm not quite sold on as of yet.
ReplyDeleteSavanna, I would have agreed with this statement 3 years ago, but since I have joined the TwitterSphere I have found that it is a lot more insightful. Twitter is less social in my opinion than other social media sites. I get my news from twitter every morning and that is how I stay up to date. The links that you can ad to twitter are under rated and the Hashtag system is great for filtering what you are looking for. Give it a try!
ReplyDeleteWhen Twitter first started, I used it all the time. I would always share my thoughts on current events and interact with others. However, now I don't see the need to use Twitter. When the social network first began, I was in high school. It made sense to always post and make a comment regarding everything that happened during my day. However, now that is no longer relevant to me. Instead, I use Twitter as a means to keep up on what's going on in the world. I am very busy and don't ever have the time to watch the news. Twitter is a great way to stay up to date on current happenings and well as trends.
ReplyDeleteAs a non-Twitter, I found that very useful! My wife and daughter use it, but I never did understand how I would benefit from it. I thought it was little more than group chat. It makes a lot more sense now. Thanks for sharing the video!
